The Kingsley After School Gardening Club

The Kingsley Learning Garden Club will be established to:

1. Develop basic knowledge of sustainable gardening practices to increase the success of gardening activities.

2. Grow environmental youth leaders by enhancing knowledge and awareness of the whole natural environment.

3. Help maintain, improve and develop the landscape of the Kingsley Campus

The club will meet Thursday afternoons and will be open to all grade levels (and parents). Pre-K and Kindergarten students who are not part of the after-school program must have a volunteer parent participant attending. The student/parent ratio must be arranged by the parents prior to the meeting day. If there is a change in the arrangement, the Club sponsor needs to be notified in writing. After-school program students (pre-K and K) must attend with an after-school staff member or other volunteer.

The club programs will be dictated by the club sponsors and the interest of the current membership.

Fees will be minimal, but members should be prepared to bring their own supplies, i.e.: gloves, bucket, trowel, sitting towel, etc.

A short snack time will be offered. Members will bring a snack AND WATER BOTTLE unless otherwise noted.

Meeting area will start in the Art Hall and move to the learning garden.

If membership is too large, pre-K, K, 1, 2 grades will alternate meeting weeks with grades 3, 4, 5.

Programs will be more primary during the months of Science Olympiad Club as members of grades 3, 4 and 5 may switch to that opportunity.

There will be an Early Bird Garden Club, which will meet from 7 - 7:30 on mornings when extra help with the campus gardening is needed. These students will primarily be early bus riders (3, 4, 5 grades) who are interested in the gardens and do not have afternoon transportation. They will help in the gardens (weeding, watering) in the cooler part of the day.
